Ratingen city center
The historic city center of Ratingen is only a 5-minute walk away. It stands out from other city centers in the region due to its inviting market square and a good range of shopping facilities. Here you will find everything from supermarkets, fashion boutiques, to drugstores, almost everything you need for your daily needs. Every December, the popular Ratinger Christmas Market opens its doors to thousands of visitors.
Ratingen’s culinary offerings are dominated by long-established inns serving hearty Rhineland cuisine. So if you like pork knuckle with sauerkraut and dumplings accompanied by a glass of home-brewed Altbier – typical of the region – you’ll always get your money’s worth in Ratingen. A handful of good Italians and Greeks are also waiting with their Mediterranean food offerings in and around Ratingen’s city center.
Our team will be happy to tell you where it tastes really delicious.
Our restaurant recommendations:
We’ve talked to 5 of our favorite restaurateurs in town and negotiated an exclusive deal for our house guests.
Ask at the reception for “restaurant deals” and our team will show you where you will be served especially well as a Barbarossa guest!
Schwarzbach Quarter Ratingen
The industrial area around today’s Balcke-Dürr-Allee, also known as Schwarzbach-Quartier, traditionally houses medium-sized companies from the surrounding area as well as offshoots of multinational corporations. Names of some well-known companies are:
*Mitsubishi Electric, DKV, Esprit, SPIE, Computacenter, MT AG, Sogeti, SAP, Grollmus, Capgemini, Prosegur, and many more.
And the prospects are rosy: between 2019 and 2026, a major British investor is building a company landscape par excellence on the still unused part of Balcke-Dürr-Allee on an area of around 40,000 square meters. In the future, a new cross-industry company location is to be created here on Düsseldorf’s doorstep, in which fashion labels will line up with Asian tech companies and start-ups to benefit from the proximity to each other in the emerging company hub (link www.schwarzbach-quartier.de).
As Ratingen’s closest hotel to this industrial hub, we are the first point of contact for employees, consultants or training participants active on site. The Balcke-Dürr Allee is located directly behind the train station Ratingen Ost S and can be reached from the hotel in 5 minutes by foot – ideal to book your business stay in Ratingen with us.
Düsseldorf Trade Fair
Each year, Messe Düsseldorf organizes around 136 trade fairs from various consumer and trade fair sectors. Among the best known trade fairs in Düsseldorf are Beauty, Boot, Drupa, EuroShop, Interpack, Kunststoff Messe, Medica, METAV, ProWein and the Wire & Tube.
Our trade fair hotel is ideally located between Essen and Düsseldorf. The journey to the Düsseldorf exhibition center takes 15 minutes by car and 40 minutes by public transport. To avoid long waiting times in traffic jams, or to avoid having to search for a parking space on site, it is a good idea to use the S-Bahn S 6 (S-Bahn station Ratingen Ost), which is only 200m from our hotel, as a means of transport for your trade fair visit in Essen or Düsseldorf.
Furthermore, as an active partner of Messe Düsseldorf, we are fully geared to the needs of trade fair visitors. Our cozy hotel café invites you for a drink after a long day at the fair. Afterwards, thanks to its central location, you can take a leisurely stroll through Ratingen’s old town in the evening. There you can enjoy the quiet atmosphere after a stressful day at work and end the evening relaxing in one of the numerous restaurants on offer.
